Well, we’re a week out from the 2009 Holidaze and I’m sure all of us are slowly kicking it back into gear. Now that we’ve had a minute to think deep about what we want to create for ourselves in the coming year, we can now enjoy a bit of frivolity and think about how Fabulous we want to be πŸ˜‰ Here are some Beauty Resolution suggestions for you to consider in your upcoming year of Fabulousness…

) Get a Great Makeup Wardrobe – If you don’t have one already, let this be the year that you get a great, functional makeup wardrobe together. A Makeup Wardrobe does NOT have to be a lot of items. It just has to cover all the basics and all look GREAT on you so you can just put on a five-minute great face and walk out the door.

) Add a New Makeup Item to your Arsenal Every Month – Assuming you have your basic Makeup Wardrobe under control, don’t get stuck in a rut. Folks get attached to using the same old same old, kind of the way people will paint and decorate a house and keep it the same way for the next 20 years. It’s not a good look. It’s important to spice it up and keep it lively. If you can’t do monthly, promise me you’ll at least do Quarterly. Promise? OK…

3) While Your’re At It, Please Throw The Old Stuff Out – It’s shocking how long people keep makeup!!! All makeup has a shelf-life at which point they need to be tossed. And yes, 5 years is well past that shelf-life. After a while old makeup is just a bacteria breeding ground. I don’t care how much you love the product or it’s discontinued or this or that; throw it out.

) Really Take Care Of Your Skin – I mean really take care of it. Too many people think makeup is supposed to fix everything. And yes, it can fix a lot. HOWEVER nothing looks better than makeup on applied to beautiful skin. Invest in high-quality, age appropriate products and USE them. I can attest to the difference using a product regularly can do… I have sensitive and breakout prone skin but haven’t had a significant breakout in nearly two years since changing and really applying a skin care regimen… Also if you can afford to do so, seek the aid of a specialist. A great aesthetician or a dermatologist visit can do wonders for your skin.

) Just to Emphasize; Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize – I’m always a bit shocked that this even needs to be said, but then I get models in my chair with dry, thirsty skin on the regular. You can’t even pretend to have good skin if you don’t moisturize it, and that includes oily skin. Moisturize liberally from face to toes on a daily basis. While you’re at it, drink plenty of water, too. Yes everyone says it but it’s because it’s true. And if folks were really doing it I wouldn’t have all these flaky models in my chair! πŸ˜‰

) Keep Your Makeup Tools Clean – Not doing so will undermine everything you’re trying to accomplish in the 5 steps mentioned above. Dirty brushes change the color and texture of your cosmetics over time and swathe them in bacteria which you then apply to your face. It takes about 5-15 minutes to clean your brushes depending on the type of cleaner you use. Doing so once weekly is time VERY well spent.

) Don’t Deny The Power of Polish – Nail Polish, that is. Nail polish is a great way to wear serious color. You can wear things on your nails – particularly toenails – that you could never get away with on your face. I mean, how sexy is Black nail polish? πŸ™‚

) Don’t Deny Your Hair – I admit, I am a bit of a hair fanatic and I spend a lot of time and energy trying new hair products, particularly conditioners. A lot of women of all hair types focus on styling products and forget the power of a serious deep-conditioning. Commit to deep conditioning your hair on the regular and revel in the results.

) Bodywork Does Wonders – Yoga, Pilates, Massage, whatever you choose your body and skin will thank you for it and you will see the benefits. Stress is a major looks-killer. Work it out your body and let all your fabulous Chi flow…

) Stop Over Analyzing Yourself – No one is perfect. Perfection isn’t even the goal, the goal is to be your most beautiful YOU. So take care of yourself, beautify and revel in yourself and then go out and enjoy life and be Fabulous. πŸ˜€
