I found this little nugget a while back, and in light of the fact that the artist known as Marilyn Manson is currently on tour I thought it’d be a good time to share it. I’m not a huge Marilyn Manson fan – although I do still love “Beautiful People” – but I’ve always found him fascinating as an artist. I appreciate musicians who – like Bjork or The White Stripes or Erykah Badu – take into account the entire visual presentation of their music along with the sonic presentation.
As it turns out, makeup has been a part of his daily life since well before becoming a performer;
MARILYN MANSON: My mom used to put her wigs and lipstick on me when I was little. I have one weird picture of me as a toddler with an unlit cigarette in my mouth, wearing her blonde wig and a diaper, sitting on the couch. Wonder how I ended up here.
Ok, then.

I am SO familiar with Floria Sigismondi – that’s why I mentioned her in the article. She is one of my favorites. She did a video for Sigur Ros that’s one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful vids you’ll ever see. Her work is astounding. π
Have you seen this lady’s work? https://www.floriasigismondi.com/ She directed a few of his videos and has a really interesting approach to adding makeup artistry to her videos as a core component.
